More than 70 people submitted lists of their five greatest TV shows ever. More than 100 shows were named (American Idol rules were in effect; you could vote as often as you liked within the timeframe). But some stood out from the crowd. I have compiled a list of the fifteen most-named shows.
Now comes the hard part. We’re going to have to say goodbye to ten of these shows for the totally arbitrary rule that John Callaghan used the phrase “five greatest shows ever” on my Facebook wall (yes, that’s right, if five isn’t enough, blame Callaghan).
It’s up to you. Voting closes at noon on April 1st.

I got your tweet that seinfeld had taken over a.d. for second place and felt i had to do my part to rectify.
I only voted for 4 because Friday Night Lights wasn’t on the list.
be well.

Where’s Homicide? No point in voting without it.
I think Twin Peaks deserves to be on the list.
Homicide, Friday Night Lights and Twin Peaks were all in the first round but failed to get enough votes to move into the final 15. I stress that this is not science, just fun, but 5 isn’t very many shows either so clearly not every show you love will be there. I personally think it’s a travesty that Shameless isn’t on the list.
I had been told, and now I know, that The Wire is must see tv. I shall find Season One this week. Mark my words.
