TV remote

This one used to watch broadcast TV.

Mac remote

Or this one, used to watch streamed TV?

I’m not sure why the broadcast remote has to be so complicated.   Are there 59 buttons on it?  That is craziness.  TV technology needs a serious overhaul.

And don’t get me started on on demand.

Too late.

Why is on demand so slow?  Why is the interface so incredibly clumsy?  Why — on my cable service at least — does it take more than a week for the HD versions of shows to get added to on demand?

And while we’re on the subject of HD, why don’t the HD shows fill my screen?  Why is there always a massive black frame surrounding them?

And why do HD broadcasts provided by the cable companies look compressed and not as clear as the free HD signals you get with a pair $5 rabbit ears? It’s a bigger difference than you would think. I use the rabbit ears and my brother who pays through the nose for HD channels always leaves my house fuming.

I LOVE my HD antenna. Only $50 but I get about 20 channels. Of course I have a clear site line to the CN Tower and across the lake. And the good old internet provides what I can’t get.
